The Ruin - Sleeps 2 ( plus 2 youngsters
if required) |
The Ruin is situated in 80 acres of land,
in a perfect setting above the shores of Loch Sunart
at Ardslignish - 4 miles west of Glenborrodale on the Ardnamurchan
peninsula. |
|
 |
| The Ruin has views extending
to several miles across the loch and imagine this - not one building
can be seen. It is so quiet that you can frequently hear seals in
the small colony 300 yards away, as well as see them.
The croft house and the adjacent byre have been lovingly rebuilt
by us to provide the utmost comfort and convenience whilst retaining
the character and charm of the original buildings, which were probably
last lived in about 100 years ago. |
 |
 |
The house itself
provides accommodation for two in a largely open plan layout –
the notable exception being the bathroom - which has a short shower
tub/bath.
The kitchen is comprehensively equipped, including gas hob, electric
fan oven, dishwasher, fridge, breadmaker etc.
Visitors will enjoy the high comfort level of the full underfloor
heating, and added bonus of a wood-burning stove in the living area.
There is a TV/DVD player and a separate CD/radio/cassette player,
plus a small selection of DVDs and CDs. |
|
The Byre - 7 yards away for the house - incorporates the utility
room, housing the washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer at the
rear of the building. At the front is a small bed sitting room with
double bunks and which is equipped with TV/DVD/CD. This room is
to accommodate two youngsters if required, giving parents some well
deserved peace and quiet. The byre also has a toilet and shower.
Parents must satisfy themselves that their youngsters will be happy
sleeping on their own, and would also treat the property responsibly.
A child alarm operates between the two buildings, which both have
smoke alarms and emergency lighting. |

What to see and Do
Ardslignish is an ideal base from which to explore the Ardnamurchan
peninsula, which stretches out to become the most westerly point
on the British mainland.
Ardnamurchan is a truly unspoilt area of varied and unsurpassed
natural beauty and interest, with rugged mountains, ancient oakwoods,
mixed woodlands and flower meadows, surrounded by a fascinating
shoreline ranging from fantastic rock formations to the softest
sandiest beaches imaginable.
|
| Closer to home, the
Ruin is surrounded by land dedicated to natural regeneration and
is populated by an amazing variety of wild flowers and birds, whilst
the ebbing tide leaves rock pools full of interest for all.
The stone terrace provides a good place for bird spotting and barbecues,
whilst for the more energetic the clothes posts double up for a
badminton net, and there is also a croquet set. Inside are various
games and wildlife reference books. |
 |
On the side of our home, Greenwood, 150 yards from the Ruin we have
developed 2 games rooms which are shared with our Tower visitors.
Play snooker or pool and or try your hand at table tennis….guaranteed
to cause some laughs. In the other room we have installed some fitness
equipment and a dart board.
